Our Patron is St. Frances Xavier Cabrini
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini was born in Italy in 1850. She came to the United States in 1889 with six sisters of a missionary order she had founded in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Her order was devoted to caring for children. Mother Cabrini began her missionary work with Italian immigrants in New York.
Mother Cabrini became a U.S. citizen in 1909. She worked in several cities, including New Orleans, and founded 60 orphanages, schools, and hospitals. She died in Chicago in 1917 at the age of 67.
Pope Pius XI declared Mother Cabrini "Beata" or Blessed on Nov. 13, 1938. Pope Pius XII signed the decree for her canonization on January 11, 1946, making her the first saint of the United States. St. Frances Cabrini's feast day is celebrated November 13.
