A Novena for the Pope
The Knights of Columbus have started a novena for Pope Benedict, beginning today, Divine Mercy Sunday, and lasting until the fifth anniversary of his pontificate, April 19. You can pray it here with Bishop William Lori, Supreme chaplain of the KOC.
Prayer for Pope Benedict XVI
Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to your shepherd, Benedict, a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he, as successor to the Apostle Peter and Vicar of Christ, build your Church into a sacrament of unity, love and peace for all the world. Amen.
V/ Let us pray for Benedict, the pope.
R/ May the Lord preserve him, give him a long life,
make him blessed upon the earth,
and not hand him over to the power of his enemies.
V/ May your hand be upon your holy servant.
R/ And upon your son, whom you have anointed.
Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory Be...
And don't forget to read

URGENT HEALTHCARE ACTION ITEM FROM USCCB UPDATE 3/14/2010: Launching a massive 11th-hour effort to keep abortion funding out of the health care legislation originating in the Senate that will presented to the House this week for a vote, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has provided a bulletin insert for distribution in parishes throughout the nation. The insert urges the faithful to send the following message to members of the House of Representatives: "I am pleased that the House health care bill maintains the longstanding policy against federal funding of abortion. On the other hand, the provisions on abortion funding in the current un-amended Senate health care bill are seriously deficient and unacceptable. I urge you to work to uphold essential provisions against abortion funding, to include full conscience protection and to ensure that health care is accessible and affordable for all. I urge you to oppose any bill unless and until these criteria are met." Likewise, the faithful are urged to send the following message to members of the Senate: "I am deeply disappointed that the current un-amended Senate health care bill fails to maintain the longstanding policy against federal funding of abortion and does not include adequate protection for conscience. I urge you to support essential provisions against abortion funding, similar to those in the House bill. Include full conscience protection and ensure that health care is accessible and affordable for all. I urge you to oppose any bill unless and until these criteria are met."

YOUTH CENTER PICNIC NEWS
Plans for our Fourth Annual Youth Center Picnic are getting under way. This year's picnic will be held on Friday, Aug. 28th, Saturday, Aug. 29th & Sunday, Aug. 30th at the RCA Picnic Grounds, Ranshaw.
Since it is necessary for the Youth Center to have a major fundraising project, we are hoping that we will be blessed with good weather so that this picnic will continue to develop and grow. We cannot do it alone so we are once again asking each of you for your continued support in helping us make this year's picnic a big success.
THE LOTTERY SCARECROW was a success the last four years and so we are asking for your help in donating at least 1 unused instant Lottery Ticket which will then be attached to a seasonal Scarecrow decoration. Chances will then be sold at the youth center picnic to win this scarecrow decorated with all of the lottery tickets that are received.
CHILDREN'S GAME STANDS
With our fifth annual Youth Center Picnic quickly approaching, it is once again time to ask you, our parish family, for donations of children's prizes so that our Children's Game Stands can be in operation for this picnic, also. Ideas for donations include, but are not limited to, NEW stuffed animals, coloring books, crayons, bubbles, children's jewelry, sports items, jump ropes, jacks, storybooks, activity books, card games, small cars & trucks, baseballs, dolls, novelty pens & pencils, puzzles, tootsie roll pops, lollipops, bulk candy (no chocolates), yo-yos or any other donation of your choice. Donations can be dropped off at the parish office during regular business hours (8 AM - 4 PM) or at the bottom of the choir steps.
THEME BASKET STAND
We continue to need your help in making this stand bigger and better than the previous year. Last year we had 30+ baskets under this tent and we are once again asking parishioners, families, friends and parish groups/organizations to get their ideas together and make up a theme basket. This stand is always very profitable since it operates expense free.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PICTURES
Pictures are now available in the Parish Office and can be picked up during regular business hours, Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM.
